Wilkinson Vet Clinic offers a large variety of top of the line diagnostic equipment. We have our own in-house laboratory that can give us same-day results while you wait. The importance of same day results cannot be stressed enough. When your animal is sick, you don’t always have 3-5 days or more to waste to get results back for an off-site lab. We need them today. We have invested a lot of our resources to raise the standard of care that you have access to because we feel it really is that important.
What tests do we run?
- Complete Blood Count (CBC)
This allows our veterinarian to quickly asses your animal’s red blood cells, hydration status, white blood cells, some infectious processes, and platelets necessary for blood clotting. This is some of the most essential information a veterinarian can have when treating a patient.
- Culture and Sensitivity
In-house bacterial culture and sensitivity testing allows us to non-invasively and accurately determine the best possible medications to use to resolve bacterial infections – without the costs associated with out-sourced laboratory testing.
- Chemistry Profile
We have an innovative state-of-the-art analyzer that lets us decrease wait time for results and reduce the cost to you. This analyzer provides information about the various chemicals found in the blood in less than 15 minutes. This allows our veterinarian to confidently discuss test results with our clients and begin appropriate therapy during the initial visit. With our analyzer we can run the following tests while you wait:
- Comprehensive Diagnostic Profile
This test is designed to provide information on 14 important chemicals found in the body. By knowing the concentrations of these certain chemicals, our veterinarian can make decisions about what the problem may be and how to treat it.
This test provides information on how well the thyroid is functioning but testing the level of thyroid hormone. By knowing the level of thyroid hormone, our veterinarian is able to see if there is a problem of over/under production which would indicate a problem with the thyroid.
The canine pancreatic lipase immunoreactivity test is used to diagnose pancreatitis in dogs. This condition can present in many different ways, but it commonly causes vomiting, diarrhea
